Start with a five-minute walk.
Pipstep is a path of short guided lessons, easy to hard. Pip coaches you in your ears and on your wrist, one small lesson at a time, from your first walk all the way to running.
How it works
No plan to write, no paces to know. Just press Start.
Press Start
Today's lesson is waiting on your Apple Watch or iPhone. Your first one is a five-minute walk.
Listen to Pip
"Brisk walk for three minutes." "Halfway." "That's it!" Voice in your AirPods, taps on your wrist. Your music keeps playing.
Earn your stars
Finish, open a chest, fill today's streak dot. The next lesson opens, a little longer than the last.
Come back tomorrow
Rest days are part of training: campfires you earned keep your streak warm.
A coach for everyone
Never run before? Perfect. Pipstep starts with walking and grows slowly with you.
105 small lessons
Seven sections take you from a daily walk to tiny jogs, your first 5K, 10K and all the way to a half marathon. The first section is walking only.
Made to fit you
Pipstep learns your own easy, steady and fast, and listens to how you feel today. There are no fixed paces to chase.
Kind, never pushy
A red light or a lace to tie never counts against you. A missed lesson simply waits for you. At most one gentle reminder a day.
Wrist or pocket
On Apple Watch your iPhone can stay at home. No watch? Lessons run on iPhone with GPS, AirPods and a Live Activity. Outside or on a treadmill.
Saved to Apple Health
Every lesson becomes a workout with route, heart rate and each step as an interval, and it counts for your Activity rings.
Widgets with feelings
Pip's mood on your Home Screen and Lock Screen follows your day. Watch complications show your streak and next lesson.

Pip gets stronger with you
Every unit you finish, Pip's legs, wings and posture change a little. Little Pip becomes Runner Pip, then Marathon Pip. Dress Pip up from a wardrobe of outfits: some you buy with gems, some you can only earn.

Habit school
Walk and listen lessons, quick quizzes and tiny "try it" tasks about sleep, water, shoes, warming up and staying safe. Plus "Why it works" cards with real sources and a "Myth or fact?" game.

Better with friends
Optional. Cheer each other's lessons, send a nudge, join a weekly league or a small group, or walk together: the same lesson at the same time, from different places.

Little surprises
Chests after every lesson, badges, an achievements wall, seasonal events and a weekly surprise lesson, like exploring a new street.
The whole path is free. No ads, ever.
Everything you need to build the habit costs nothing. Plus is a thank-you with a few extras.

Your data stays yours
Pipstep is built to work offline. A lesson starts, runs and finishes with no phone and no network.
- Apple Health stays on your devices. We never send your health data to our servers or use it for ads.
- No location leaves your device. Routes live in Apple Health only.
- Friends are optional. If you sign in, only lesson results (minutes, distance, stars, XP) reach our server, and you choose whether friends see them.
- No ads, no trackers. Only if you say yes, the app sends anonymous daily counts like "a lesson was finished".
Questions
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Lessons run on iPhone too, with GPS and your AirPods. With an Apple Watch you can leave the phone at home, and you get taps on your wrist.
I have never run. Is this for me?
Yes. The first section is walking only, starting with five minutes. Lessons grow slowly, and every target is set from your own pace and how you feel today.
I already run. Do I have to start from the beginning?
No. "Find my level" looks at your Apple Health history and suggests where to start, and a jump test lets you skip ahead.
Can I listen to music?
Yes. Pip lowers your music for short lines and pauses it only for important moments, then it comes back.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing bad. Campfires you earned cover rest days. If a streak does break, two lessons within three days light it again. A missed lesson simply waits for you.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every lesson on the path, habit school and the friends features are free, with no ads. Pipstep Plus is optional.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without one. You only sign in (with Apple, Google or email) if you want friends, cheers and leagues.
Which languages?
English for now.
Is Pipstep medical advice?
No. Pipstep is a walking and running coach, not a medical device. Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise programme, especially if you have a health condition.
